Clan Fokus: Evil Sunz

Small thumb 40korkclanevilsunz oct25 feature3gv 320x320

Hello everyone !!

Welcome to Clan Fokus – a new series on Warhammer Community where we’ll be taking a closer look at all the new Clan Kulturs in the new Codex: Orks. These powerful special rules let you tailor your play-style and offer huge benefits to nearly every unit in your army. We’ll be previewing a new Clan Kultur every day this week – today, focusing on the Evil Sunz…

Not the best of the kultur but being able to Move 12bikes with +2move speed, run +1 shoot without malus and charge because of the Speed Freeks boss with + and reroll charge range.

So 12 bikers would move 14" run 1d6+1, shoot 72 times (or 96 with the moar dakka stratagem) then charge for 2d6 + 1 for a shit tons of attacks again ^^

Strong and 16% to be games breaking !

Warbikers, Deffkoptas and the new buggies are all Speed Freeks – a new Ork keyword that applies to the fastest-moving ground (or near-to-ground) units, and which offers a range of powerful new synergies. Consider, for example, the Speedwaagh! ability of the Deffkilla Wartrike when combined with a bonus 2″ Move on all of your Evil Sunz Speed Freek units and their potential to re-roll charge rolls:

The new trike boss have this aura.

Handy stratagem.

Hello there !!

Next week on pre order :
Orc codex

Mekboy Workshop
Every mechanised Ork army will want a Mekboy Workshop. This new terrain piece allows Orks to enhance the abilities of their Meks and keep anything from Trukks to Deff Dreads in fighting shape:

Dice

4 Warbuggy
That’s right – Codex: Orks is launching alongside no fewer than FOUR new Ork Vehicles! Each of these is a radical reimagining of the classic Ork Warbuggy, representing different facets of Ork “Kultur” and giving you all manner of new tactical options when building your army. Need some fast-moving anti-armour capabilities? Grab yourself a Megatrakk Scrapjet! What about some extra dakka? Look no further than the Boomdakka Snazzwagon! Can’t choose? Bombard your enemies with a variety of exploding squigs fired from the Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy.

In fact, thanks to the Deffkilla Wartrike, you can field an army consisting of ONLY Ork vehicles – a convoy of destruction led by a mighty (and mobile) Speedboss.

Sly Marbo
hat’s not all! If you missed Sly Marbo the last time around, next week, he’ll be available to pre-order once more. The so-called One-man Army is an ideal addition to any Catachan collection and comes packaged with his datasheet, meaning plugging him into your Imperium army is simple.

Speed Freeks Rules Review

Tags : review speed freeks orcs warhammer 40 000

Small thumb pic4347098

Hello there :

After checking the sprues in this post let's take a look at the Speed Freeks rules here !

Presentation

Let's start with the presentation of the game and what's inside the box.

What is Speed Freek ?

Speed Freeks is a game for 2 or more players. Each player commands a Speedmob of Ork wagons and warbikes in high-speed adrenaline-fuelled combat. You’ll need to kustomise your vehicles and pull off daring manoeuvres to win, but that isn’t easy when your team consists of velocity-addicted greenskin maniacs. Players take turns picking models to move, shoot and attack up close, aiming to destroy their rival racers and become the greatest Speedmob in the galaxy!

The box sold 120€/90€ contains all you need to play a 2 players game. You can also play a 4 players race but you would a second box.

The rules for non released buggies are included in the box too.

What's inside ?

-24-page core rules manual
- 12 datacards, providing the rules and stats for vehicles;
- 48 damage cards, drawn when a vehicle is smashed about in combat;
- 24 Kustom Job cards, describing upgrades models can gain;
- 4 folded card double-sided gameboards, which can be set up in a variety of configurations;
- 2 Speed Freeks dashboards and screens, used to keep your dice allocation secret from your opponent;
- 2 sheets of tokens, fire arc markers and movement templates;
- A plastic range ruler;
- 20 special 6-sided Speed Freeks dice (10 red, 10 yellow);
- 1 8-sided dice – this is used to (hopefully) pass your drivin’ test, amongst other things...

To be honest that's a lot of stuff and I think that partly explain why it's so expensive.
I'd love they make a boxed set with just the models.

But as a standalone game is it any good ?

Game overview

In a nutshell, the game is super simple and with a moderate amount of strategy depth.
Maybe it's not the strategic game of the year but it's a fun one !

There is 4 missions in the book, named Rukks. Part race part destruction derby but with an subtil Ork touch !

The race are funnier to play I think, because of the racing component. In one of them the map is infinite !(the models too slow get destroyed ^^)

Datacards explained

It's worth noting that models don't have a movement value as you use dice and template to move around.

Armour : is the number of dice you roll when you are attacked
Hits : Number of hit point
Melee : Number of dice you roll when attacking in melee
Driving skill : You must roll '

The dice

Speed Freeks use a special D6 dice that you use to program action and to roll attacks.

On this image you can see all the results possible.
2 attacks success, 2 defense success, 1 lightning (crit), 1 flash (usually bad)

During one turn !

One turn of speed freeks is divided in 4 phases ( surprise !). It's interesting to note that all phases are in alternate activation (meaning that you activate 1 model then the opponent do the same)

A turn is made of 4 phases so let's look at them :

Kunnin phase

At the start of the turn in the kunnin phase you are required to secretly split your 10 dices in 3 separates zone : Kunning (to get first turn) ,Moving (go faster) , Shooting (moar Dakka)

Once done, you roll the dices ing the Kunnin zone to see who' go first.

Mov phase

It's the most important phase of the game when you play a race missions. In all case it's a very long phase.
The rules on the other hand are quite simple

Then you roll the number of dice allocated to the vehicles (1-5). each success grant you 1 gubbinz (move templates)

Notice how longer are the reds gubbinz ?

Then you move the model like shown on the image.
(notice it's front to back)

If for example you rolled 4 success you could use more than 1 gubbinz and connect them to build a trail la this one (3 gubbinz)

Not all gubbinz are created equal and some are stronger but can be used only once per turn or game (for each model)

Of course to spice things up, you can also RAM other, Drift and crash (if you fail a driving test.)

Shooting phase

In a nutshell each dice you have allocated to the shooting phase allow you to make a shot with one weapon.

-Player alternate activating a shooter
-The game use fire arcs template to check if the weapon can attack
-You have to evenly spread your dices between different vehicles.
-You have to evenly spread your dices between different weapons when a vehicle activate.

Not a big fan of these limits but I guess play test showed that it was a Game Balance necessity ^^

To attack, you rolls shot value dices and your adversary roll a number of dice equal to the vehicle armor.

Damage : (Attack success – Defense Success) X Damage.

Then you draw as my damage cards and apply them to the target.

Melee phase

If you are within 2” of an enemy, roll melee dice against defense and apply damage.

And voilà that's it for the main rules.

Additional rules and campaign

OrK Klan

IF you play with the this rule you can select a specific orK Klan for a bonus.
There are the usual 6.

Kustom Jobz

Kustom jobz are upgrades for vehicles that you can use to spice thing up.
You can use them as custom job before a race in a non campaign game or as a reward post game.

Campaign

The book offer some ideas on how to run a League or a Campaign but nothing really structured.

Conclusion

Very good box if you plan to play this boardgame maybe a bit expensive if you don't need the rest of the stuff.
But as a mission require 2 box to play it maybe you can resell everything but the models.

I could stop here but i think this game have a real problem, it's not something you are going to feel in the first few games. But as soon the players become more experienced, the move phase is going to take too much time. It's already super slow to check all the different gubbinz , the fire arcs, the los ...

This game need a clock like in Chess, Go, Warmachine or Guildball. Maybe not for all the phase of the game but : Move phase, shooting phase, melee phase should be timed ! It's a missed opportunity that they didn't included a sand timer in the box like in the good old Space Hulk !

Ok that's it for the Speed Freeks review.

I'll try to do a post on the models assembling tomorow.

/Cheers.

Speed Freeks, the sprues

Tags : review speed freeks orcs warhammer 40 000

Small thumb redbuggy

Hello everyone !!

Speed Freeks includes 8 multi-part plastic vehicle miniatures, along with a set of barricades used in-game. Let's look in details at what models are inside.

First you get :

Bikes
6 Bikes (3 reds and 3 yellows).
Each side get 3 bikes

Nothing much to say on the bike it's the old model but you get one extra torso option ^^

Kustom Boosta - Blasta

This is not an "Easy to build" kit like for shadespire or other games.
I am not saying it's hard but you need glue and some patience as there are a lot of small pieces to assemble

The kit is awesome can't wait to start working on it !

ShokkJump Dragsta

Again lot of sub assembly, 8 pages of instruction.
Awesome details. Maybe my favorite of the bunch.

The 2 wagons are close to perfect tbh.

The terrain sprue

This level of details for a "side" terrain sprue is incredible.
3 obstacles and 3 barriers/walls. The color used for the plastic is really shiny and hide the details on the pics but IRL they are amazing.

I think i am also going to use them for kill team. There is a board included (see review of the rules) and with a few bits plus maybe a building or two it would make a perfect killzone !

Conclusion

6 Bikes sprues
2 Wagons sprues
1 terrain sprue

If you play orcs in 40k or want to play orcs or want the best models GW ever made ? Buy it. If you are more interested by the game wait my game review later today :D.

ps : I am a bit sad that these 2 wagons are exclusive to the boxed set. The problem is the size of the sprue i think. It can't be cut in half so they would have to pack it in a large box.

Wtf moment : Price is 90£ / 120€ - Xe get me a 102.11 € rate. I think it better to buy it online in uk.

/Cheers.

Building A Speed Freeks Army

Tags : codex speed freeks orcs warhammer 40 000

Small thumb orks buildingspeedfreeksarmy oct18 feature 320x320

Hello there !

The new Codex: Orks is nearly upon us (2w) – and we reckon that if you’re anything like as excited about it as us, you’ll be starting a new army with it.

This codex offers all sorts of possibilities when building your lists – as well as the classic “Green Tide” of boyz, you’ll find Dread Mobs, armoured columns or anything else you can imagine will be pretty powerful. In fact, if you’re grabbing the Speed Freeks set this weekend, you’ll be well on your way to a pretty cool list!

To help you find your footing (and, just between us, to give you a sneak preview of some new Power costs from the new codex), we’ve written a nifty list designed to make the most of the Speed Freeks – if you’re looking to learn more about how they play, you can refresh your memory with our in-depth preview from yesterday.

We’ve built our list using Power rather than points for the sake of convenience. If you’re looking to build a matched play force, this list comes to about 2000 points, so shouldn’t need much adjusting.

“Speedwaaagh!”
HQ
Deffkilla Wartrike – 6 Power
Deffkilla Wartrike – 6 Power
Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun – 4 Power

Troops
10x Boyz – 4 Power
10x Boyz – 4 Power
10x Boyz – 4 Power

Fast Attack
Kustom Boosta-blasta – 5 Power
Shokkjump Dragsta – 6 Power
Boomdakka Snazzwagon – 5 Power
Megatrakka Scrapjet – 5 Power
Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy – 7 Power
3x Warbikers – 4 Power
3x Warbikers – 4 Power

Elites
5x Nobz – 7 Power
Nob with Waaagh! Banner – 4 Power

Heavy Support
Morkanaut – 15 Power

Dedicated Transport
Trukk – 3 Power
Trukk – 3 Power
Trukk – 3 Power

TOTAL: 99 Power

Command Points: 9

The core of any Speed Freeks list is a Deffkilla Wartrike, giving you an HQ that can keep up with the rest of your vehicles AND offer them some handy bonuses, not to mention that they’re brutally powerful combatants in their own right. As such, we’ve picked two so you can spread your aura abilities around as effectively as possible.

A Big Mek of your choice never goes amiss in a Speed Freeks army, letting you keep your favourite Vehicles fighting just a little bit longer.

This is the meat of the army. For fun, we’ve picked one of every new Ork Vehicle – this will give you loads of flexibility and allow you to tackle pretty much anything your enemies can throw at you. Of course, you’re free to focus on your favourites when writing your lists – an attack wing of Megatrakk Scrapjets or a convoy of Rukkatrukk Squigbuggies would be just as powerful!

We’ve also added a couple of units of Warbikers. These guys are still really handy in an Ork army and come in the Speed Freeks set, making adding them in a no-brainer.

Whether or not you use Troops in a Speed Freeks army is up to you! We’ve added a few units of Trukk-mounted Boyz into this list to hold objectives and give you some additional Command Points – with so many new Stratagems in the Orks codex, it’d be a shame not to use them.

From there, we had about 29 power (roughly 600 points) left and added a few nifty units that mesh really well with a Speed Freeks army. The Morkanaut is an absolutely brilliant choice for any armoured Ork army – keep yours at the centre of your convoy, and it’ll shield anyone nearby with its kustom force field. From there, we loaded up the Morkanaut with some Nobz (armed with your choice of weapons) and a Nob with Waaagh! Banner. The latter is cracking for getting some more attacks out of powerful close-combat Vehicles like the Megatrakk Scrapjet.

Fancy building this army for yourself? Speed Freeks is the perfect way to kick it off – make sure to pre-order your copy this weekend!

/Cheers.
Bob.

40K rules for Orks Vehicles

Tags : speed freeks orcs warhammer 40 000

Small thumb orkvehicles oct17 feature

hello there !

GW team released a massive post with tons of spoiler.

ps : The illustration image was named "Leak response" on the WC site

Speed Freeks is a new keyword in Codex: Orks shared by all the new Ork vehicles and other Orks who feel the call of the Speedwaaagh!, like Deffkoptas and Warbikers. In the lore, Orks have always been known for their love of speed, and this keyword lets you represent that with special rules and Stratagems designed just for you. Take Billowing Exhaust Clouds – a great give one of your new Ork vehicles a nifty durability boost:

The lynchpin of any good Ork vehicle army in the new codex is the Deffkilla Wartrike.

This vehicle is an HQ choice that allows any nearby vehicles and bikers to charge even after they’ve Advanced, letting you close the distance on your enemy with terrifying speed before smashing them to bits in close combat.

This ability works on ANY Orks in the same Clan with the Vehicle or Biker keyword, meaning you’ll be able to use it with your Trukks, Battlewagons, Deff Dreads or, if you’re feeling particularly brutal, Stompas!

The Megatrakk Scrapjet is a truly vicious Ork vehicle, excelling at scrapping enemy tanks or turning foes into coleslaw with its drill. Designed by enterprising Meks from downed Dakkajets and piloted by grounded Flyboyz, these vehicles are just as deadly as their aerial counterparts. Just check out the rokkit kannon:

And that’s just ONE of the guns – this vehicle is loaded with deadly firepower. With Dakka! Dakka! Dakka! – which lets Orks generate additional hits when they roll an unmodified 6 – this has the potential to scrap even tougher tanks in a single round of shooting. Should anyone survive – well, just ram them with the nose drill:

On raw number of shots alone, few come close to the Boomdakka Snazzwagon. Between a team of bottle-wielding Burna Boyz, a big shoota and the deadly Mek speshul, this is your dedicated Infantry-killer:

Don’t worry about having to choose between firing your burna bottles or other guns – the Boomdakka Snazzwagon has a special rule that lets you use both in the same shooting phase.

This vehicle is also one of the best defensively, thanks to its Billowing Fumes rule:

Even when destroyed, the Boomdakka Snazzwagon can still cause havoc, thanks to its high likelihood of exploding – just make sure yours is deep in enemy lines when it does so…

If you can’t solve a problem with a Squig, it probably isn’t worth solving. The Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy is the most versatile of the new Ork vehicles, capable of changing its firing profile to accommodate for a variety of different targets. Need to chew through some Terminators? Lob a bitey squig at them. What about tanks? A boom squig should do the trick:

What’s more, you’ll be able to use a squig mine to threaten anyone that gets close! Dealing mortal wounds to anyone unfortunate enough to tread on it, by using multiple Rukkatrukk Squigbuggies, you’ll be able to set up some deadly traps.

The Kustom Boosta-blasta is a fantastic all-rounder, effective at any range and pretty solid against anything you throw it at. If you’ve got a gap in your Ork list, fill it with one of these – they’re flexible enough that to help in just about any situation. Take the guns – you’re armed with four infantry-immolating burna exhausts for close range AND a hefty rivet kannon for picking off foes further away:

Of course, you can just use it to ram people too.

The Shokkjump Dragsta is the most unusual of the new Ork vehicles. For one, it’s – dare we say it – almost accurate by Orky standards, thanks to its paired Grot Gunner and Targetin’ Squig. You’ll be reliably hitting with the kustom shokk rifle on a 3+!

Where the Shokkjump Dragsta really shines is its incredible (if unpredictable) mobility. Roll a 4+ on your Advance roll, and it’ll teleport to another spot of your choice on the board, making it perfect for last-minute objective grabs or getting into position for a crucial shot.

Every single one of these new vehicles opens up countless possibilities when building your lists – and they’re very, very fun to use, too. And we haven’t even got into combining them with Clan Kulturs…

The Speed Freeks boxed game, which you can pre-order it from Saturday, allows you to build one Kustom Boosta-blasta and one Shokkjump Dragsta, as well as six Warbikers. The rest of the vehicles we’ve mentioned will all be available as separate kits alongside the long-awaited launch of Codex: Orks, so keep an eye out! In the meantime, let us know which one you’re looking forward to most on the Warhammer 40,000 Facebook page.

ps : Grot gunner add 1 to hit roll ^^ and 2 if you have the grot gunner and a targeting squig ^^ (haha)

/Cheers.
